This course is designed to explain the principles of the labelling requirements for animal feed by demonstrating how to use current legislation and applying it to practical examples of labels. We look at the different types of feed defined in legislation and the labelling requirements for each. The course is aimed at both the feed and pet food industries and is taught by experienced, qualified tutors with wide experience of auditing and using feed legislation.

The course includes:


  • Regulation (EC) 767/2009 on the marketing and use of feed
  • Regulation (EC) 1831/2003 on additives for use in animal nutrition
  • Catalogue of Feed Materials / Register of Feed Materials
  • GB and EU Register of Feed Additives
  • Compound feeds
  • Declaration tolerances
  • Claims
  • Requirements for certain ingredients e.g. genetically modified organisms, fishmeal
  • Labelling of feed containing veterinary medicines
